Benchmarking:
I created a majority of my own prompts for my book, but ended up supplementing a few from "Wreck This Journal" and "Start Where You Are". These were also my earmarks for this project. This is a school project and the book is not for sale. However, I wanted to emphasize the importance these books had on my design and give due credit here to the authors who influenced my design.

Persona's and Journey Maps:
After I selected what I wanted to do for my project and collected the content I planned on adding, I created a series of user personas and their journeys to further explore the constraints of my design. Click on the images to learn more!

AEIOU:
From there I looked into the AEIOU study of my design. It was important to consider the activities, environments, information, objects, and users of my design before I could proceed.

Empathy Map:
I also created an empathy map for further exploration. I wanted to consider what my target audience may need and what may influence them when they consider using my book.

Pagination Study:
From there, I looked at the formatting and layout of my book and determined how I wanted the book to be laid-out and formatted. I needed to consider the experience my target audience would receive when using this book and needed to determine what layout and design that made the most sense.

Page Layouts Iterations
From there I created the base of my book design. The following studies consider different layouts and formats to consider before the final design of my book.

Final Spreads:
This is a collection of the final spreads I designed for my book. The final spreads considers the use of water color and chaos paired with strict line work and simple black and white imagery. Different prompts where designed to engage the viewers in different ways. The play between fluidity and rigidity of the design allowed for a playful collection of mindfulness activities that worked well as a a complete set.

The Final:
The final book is a probably one of the most personal pieces I've ever designed. This was probably the most intimate piece I have ever put together. Further more the duality between the rigidity of the black and white coloring pages and the wild splashes of watercolor really speaks to me on a fundamental level. It feels like a piece of me.
